Cancer sufferer given two weeks to live is still here four years on

Claire Blair, 36, a mom of 3 girls, believes she has survived so prolonged as she has been prescribed the drug Herceptin that stops breast cancer cells dividing and growing.

Mrs Blair pronounced "I wouldn"t be here but it. I still take it and I have to have alternative scans each 3 months that exam my heart to check the drug isn"t inspiring it.

"I regularly try and put those scans off since I am shocked they will stop me receiving it.

"I don"t think I have side effects. I get sleepy really, unequivocally sleepy but who isn"t with 3 immature kids underneath seven, You can"t keep blaming it on being ill

Mrs Blair of Stowmarket, Suffolk, was since the distressing headlines that she had only days to live in Sep 2006.

But 3 and a half years later, she is scheming to applaud an additional Mother"s Day after fighting behind opposite the disease.

She is even receiving piece in a gift competition after examination from the sidelines for the last dual years as her dual eldest daughters lifted income using in her honour.

Mrs Blair is competing in the 5km Cancer Research Race for Life with all her daughters Abbi, seven, Lolli, five, and Micki, 3 in Ipswich on Jun 13.

She combined "I never thought I would see this day so I feel really fortunate. When I was diagnosed I was in the misfortune probable situation.

"I was told I had about dual weeks to live since the cancer had widespread to my liver and bones. Not majority people have been where I"ve been and bounced back."

At the time she was diagnosed, Mrs Blair thought her impassioned lassitude was down to carrying since bieing born to her youngest daughter 3 months earlier.

When she went to sanatorium she was kept in overnight for tests. Even prior to the formula came behind she knew there was something severely wrong.

She combined "I could discuss it by the approach the staff were treating me that the formula were going to show something distressing but I had no thought how horrible it would be."

The following day her misfortune fears were realised when doctors reliable that she had depot breast cancer and she had dual weeks to live notwithstanding being only 32.

Her internal vicar visited her and staff from the Hospice at Home helped her family hope for for the worst.

Life for Claire, her family and friends became a competition opposite time to fit all in, to outlay time together.

She and her family went on mental condition holidays to Disneyland in America and euro Disney in Paris and attended her sister"s marriage in Scotland.

Mrs Blair and her father additionally finished their 10th marriage anniversary mental condition come true, returning to Bali where they outlayed their honeymoon, forward of schedule.

She combined "There was no time to waste.

"I would go out and if I was ill down myself, I was ill down myself zero was going to stop me removing out and creation memories for my young kids and husband."

Mrs Blair faced carrying to organize her own wake and explaining to her eldest daughter Abbi where ma was going.

But she battled opposite the disease by receiving Herceptin and carrying steady rounds of chemotherapy at Ipswich Hospital

She pronounced "What I have learnt in the last 3 years and 3 months majority people don"t sense in a lifetime and I have to appreciate cancer for that. People regularly ask the subject "why?". I ask, "Why not?"

"What is so special about me? Why am I still here? You can feel ill in the morning, you can throw up in the center of the night, but you get up in the sunrise to take the kids to school, to go to work.

"You can feel similar to you can"t be worried to go to work but you have to be bothered. If you stay at home and feel contemptible for yourself but if you stay certain it will have a difference.

"There will come a time when I will get knocked behind but I"m not failing whilst I have 3 small children. I"m vital with cancer and I"m really grateful for the time I"ve been given.

"Everybody"s going to die cave was only rammed in my face. But but it I would not have got up and finished all things we have as a family, finished all those special memories and lived each day to the full.

"I would not be here but my husband. For me hold up is easy, I am going to die and it is my father and young kids who will be left to collect up the pieces. It is harder for them.

"My kids have been a outrageous strength. They are 3 small reasons to live, 3 small reasons to love.

"Surviving cancer isn"t only about treatment. It is not only about your personality. It"s not only about love and support. It is about all of those things pulled together. You have to have a happy change of them all."
