Marvel Allies Again in 2008

In Activision's Q4 / Fiscal 2008 Earnings Conference Call posted earlier today, Activision confirmed that it will be releasing the sequel to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance later this year. Specific platforms were not announced for the game (which had been previously spoken of in rough terms in another financial notice), but given how popular the original game was, we would expect the next Marvel: Ultimate Alliance to be released for every platform imaginable. An exact title was not given for the sequel, so it is possible that the next game will adapt a slightly different name, although it seems safe to guess that gamers can call it "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2" unless Activision gives us a new name for the game.

Speed Racer for Wii

Here's a game we've filed under the "we should know more about this title than we actually do" category. Speed Racer from Warner Bros. Interactive and development studio Sidhe, best known for its PS3 racer GripShift, is, of course, based on the upcoming feature film of the same name. And yes, it's a racing game, as if you couldn't have guessed. But strangely – almost against the odds – it seems to have potential due primarily to its stylized presentation and good sense of speed. Like the movie, it's all about speed – between 350 and 500 miles per hour, to be precise. The game has also been created specifically for Wii, releasing this May, in mind. There is only one other build, a PS2 title, but it won't ship until this fall.

Speed Racer for Wii follows the storyline set forth in the upcoming Wachowski brothers (The Matrix) movie. You compete as the famous Speed Racer in the World Racing League against as many as 19 other racers, all bent on taking first prize – the driver to make it through unpredictable track designs with jumps and loops to the finish line will gain coveted fame and fortune. The game boasts a unique "car fu" mechanic, enabling you to smash, jump and flip your vehicle at will in order to outmaneuver, dodge, nudge (if necessary) and ultimately outrace foes.

You'll be able to choose from more than 20 different driver / car combinations – Speed Racer's Mach 6 and Racer X's Shooting Star included, of course. And adding to the overall presentation, actors Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox and Christina Ricci have all lent their voices to the title.

We still haven't had the chance to play Speed Racer for Wii so we can't say for certain if it's any good. But judging by the video footage, it certainly doesn't look bad. See it for yourself and be sure to check out the producer interview for more information about the title.

de Blob

Is an action puzzle that allows players to explore and to liberate an alien city from the evil monochromatic INKT Corporation that has taken over the city and outlawed all color and fun from daily life.

Blob is on a quest to reanimate the city of Chroma, splattering buildings landmarks and citizens with paint. de Blob is an intricate single player campaign as well as a multilayer experience that supports up to four competitors via split screen. The game was conceived by a team of nine students studying Game Design & Development at Utrecht University's School of the Arts in the Netherlands.

Recharge Dock for Wii

The Wiimote AA battery lifetime is 30 hours, but for Wii user 30 hours it isn’t much time. There is a range of rechargeable Wiimote batteries and charge stations since the system was launch. Early charger station had a limited number of charging slots for space efficiency. But because the console can host up to four players on one console, charger need more slots. React Gamer released a four Wiimote charge station.

Recharge Dock kit has four rechargeable battery packs. The station has a blue LED dock illumination but with out an off switch and the illumination is distracting.

The station also has LEDs built into each Wiimote docking slot, which glow red when charging and the station is solidly constructed.

The Wiimote lithium polymer battery packs are lighter than the stock AA packs and provide 20 hours on a single charge of the React battery pack.

The React Recharge Dock has a price of $50.

Cheat: Unlimited Ammo

For unlimited ammunition, insert the following password on the title screen: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.

Unlockable: Leo's Mission

To unlock a bonus level where you play not as Daniel, but as Leo, you must complete the game once through. Thereafter, this mission will become playable.

Cheat: Level Select

To open up a level select option, insert the following password on the title screen: Up, Down, Left, Right, Up, Down, Left, Right.

Unlockable: Relive Scene Option

Successfully complete the game, which will unlock the "Relive Scene" option. This will allow you to go back and play any mission over again.

Hint: Alternate Weapon Uses

Obviously, weapons in Manhunt 2 exist for a huge primary reason -- to kill your foes brutally. But a lot of items also have alternate uses. For instance, weapons like the machete, meat cleaver, knife and glass shard can cut various ropes you encounter throughout the game. The knife will allow you to pick locks, the crowbar can break open padlocks, and a well-placed bullet from your firearm can eliminate locked door handles.
